Several clubs have asked us to come up with a basic guide for implementing a Code of Conduct within their clubs. These elements are just a guide and can be modified and structured to suit the particular needs and circumstances of individual clubs.
MEMBER RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Being a member of (name of club) comes with rights and responsibilities to yourself, your peers and the club in general. Members have a right to:
Be treated fairly, equally and with respect by the club, it’s leadership, committees and other members.
Learn and socialize in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination.
Privacy and confidentiality concerning records, documents and any other communication that contains their personal information.
Be informed and actively involved in dance club events, activities and club outings.
Voice their opinions and concerns for themselves and the club through the democratic process.
Members have a responsibility to:
Treat other club members fairly, equally and with respect.
Follow any reasonable direction or requirement by an Officer, Committee Chair or authorized member of the club.
Behave responsibly and do not physically or verbally harass or harm others. This includes fights, arguing, ridiculing, threatening, stalking, etc.
Not discriminate against anyone.
Not damage, steal or misuse club property.
Not to be under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
Not use offensive language or suggestions (swearing, gestures, etc.)
Follow all club safety practices and requirements.
Refrain from behavior that could or embarrass others.
Maintain and encourage the harmony and good name of our club and its members within the club and in the outside community.
Abide by the clubs Constitution, Bylaws and Code of Conduct
BREECHES OF THE CLUBS CODE OF CONDUCT
Conduct brought about by any breech(es) of the clubs “Code of Conduct” by any club member(s) will need to be resolved calmly and with honesty, dignity and confidentiality. Where and when needed, the club reserves the right to make decisions, enforce and take appropriate measures to resolve a dispute within these areas of discipline or conflict. Any observed or reported breech(es) of the clubs “Code of Conduct” by any members(s) will be investigated, discussed and dealt with by the club leadership by either a reprimand, suspension or revocation of club membership.
